The special edition twin-engine chopper, conceived by the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Como, Italy, is being billed as the only helicopter in its class that can seat up to eight passengers. Worth noting that MB only had a hand in the aesthetics of thing and not the motor.

The luxurious cabin is equipped with comfortable leather seats coupled with sumptuous wood fittings for the floors and ceiling. A modular configuration inspired by the new R-Class crossover means that all seats are mounted on rails and can be quickly and easily switched around or removed. Thus you can choose to ditch the extra passenger space to make room for your golf bags, surfboards, skis or what have you. There are also three multi-function boxes with features such as a cooler, cup holder, table, 15-inch monitor and DVD player.

Eurocopter EC 135 helicopter designed by the French luxury brand in rich brown with classic Hermès orange accents. The EC135 is a twin engined multi-mission helicopter which can hold five passengers plus a pilot and luggage. The helicopter combines a spacious cabin, ample storage compartment, unobstructed flat floors and lateral sliding doors that open to reveal a sober light-filled and unexpectedly spacious interior configuration. The cabin was completely redesigned by Hermès Interior and Design to maximize available space: Surfaces from floor to ceiling have been covered in “Toile H”, a Hermès canvas used to manufacture the firm’s travel-ware since the nineteen-twenties. Seats and banquette are handcrafted for exceptional comfort, and upholstered in calf leathers, naturally grained and highly resistant.

The craftsmen of Hermès Interior and Design have optimized the use of fabrics and leathers to soften ambient noise and vibration. Consoles, drawers and cabinets have been recessed or placed entirely out of view. A sliding glass partition now separates passenger compartment and cockpit, enhancing privacy while allowing light to enter. Overhead Air Conditioning ducts have been center-aligned across the ceiling, providing passengers with cleaner, more symmetrical visuals. Even the landing gear has been redesigned to allow for easier and more elegant access to the cabin. In short, each aesthetic choice is combined with a functional improvement.

The BA609 Tiltrotor combines the speed, altitude, and comfort of a turboprop with the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a helicopter. Having cruising capabilities of 25,000 ft., this versatile aircraft will fly in icing conditions and extreme climates, from Arctic to desert. With seating up to nine passengers and at twice the speed of typical helicopters of comparable capacity, the BA609 is designed to be the best multi-mission aircraft for the task. An executive could conceivably take off from the helipad of a country house outside London, fly in comfort to a meeting in Frankfurt in just 60 minutes, then fly on to Zurich, Milan and back home for early dinner. All with a minimum of ground transportation requirements.

Conversely, covering vast distances in a hurry without typical delays required to accommodate fixed-wing aircraft, is reason enough to consider the BA609 Tiltrotor for any fleet. From city center to city center, there’s no quicker way to travel from one downtown area to another for distances between 50 and 500 miles. Add up the BA609′s unique capabilities and performance characteristics, add in excellent value and low lifecycle costs, and the result is superior personalized transportation. The BA609 is simply one of the most useful and versatile aircraft in aviation history. Whether in a crowded urban air traffic corridor or in undeveloped region, this revolutionary tiltrotor will shine as exquisite transport anywhere in the world.

Until the advent of the BA609, their tasks have been performed using a combination of private and chartered helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft in concert with scheduled airline flights. The BA609 Tiltrotor offers the vertical takeoff and landing capability of a helicopter, with the cruising speed, altitude, and range of a fixed wing aircraft. It represents a totally new approach to executive transportation, search and rescue, and law enforcement applications.

The unique characteristics of the BA609 Tiltrotor can literally revolutionize this process by giving tightly scheduled executives a single efficient solution to the problem of getting from here to there in the shortest possible time with a noise level which is remarkably low. The BA609 combines the benefits of several transportation choices into one aircraft.

In March of 2003, Bell/Agusta made aviation history with the inaugural test flight of the world’s first civilian tiltrotor at Bell’s Flight Research Center in Arlington, Texas.

Designed from the outset for low life cycle maintenance and maximum operational flexibility, the civil tiltrotor will offer operators highly cost-effective, point-to-point transportation at cruise speeds up to 275 knots and at ranges up to 750 nautical miles, (depending on operational parameters and atmospheric conditions).

The BA609 will be pressurized and certified for instrument flight into known icing conditions and features composite materials construction, an advanced glass cockpit, and digital flight controls. These advanced technologies will provide new levels of performance, reliability and affordabilty to the aviation world.
