Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

The Lamborghini concept car Sesto Elemento is named after the sixth element in the periodic table of the elements – Carbon. This is a serious carbon fiber machine, taking even the carbon fiber elements of such modern supercars as the McLaren MP4-12C and Lexus LFA to an entirely new level, a concept car that demonstrates the company’s latest technologies. If there’s one thing that caught our attention about the Sesto Elemento, it’s the weight. Lamborghini was able keep its curb weight to 999 kg, or 2,202 lbs, thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber and carbon fiber reinforced plastics.

The entire car is essentially constructed from the lightweight materials including the monocoque, front frame, body panels, major suspension components and wheels. With a 570-horsepower V10 mounted behind the cockpit, the San Elemento has just 3.86 pounds to push for every horsepower. Lamborghini claims a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of over 300 km/hr, or 186 mph.

2010 Gumball 3000 London – New York City 7Days/Nights

This years 2010 Gumball 3000 started in London England on May 1st before taking in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Boston, Quebec City and Toronto then finally rounding off in New York City. The seven long days and nights are a mix of driving fast, luxury hotels and lavish parties, with an entry fee of £30,000 to take on the Spirit of the Gumball. On Thursday May 6th the Gumball 3000 rolled through Toronto causing up a stir in posh Yorkville.

At around 6:30pm Toronto time the first of the Gumballers started appearing, with celebrity/rapper Xzibit the first to arrive, in his Design 11 modified Porsche Cayenne Turbo right hand drive.

Other Gumballers included: Maximillion Cooper Gumball founder, in his Morgan Aero Max Coupe, Tony Hawk, Matt & Moe (The Arab Sheiks) in their Rolls-Royce Phantom DropHead. There were also some female participants including first time Gumballers Jade Jagger (Mick Jagger’s daughter) driving a colourful Corvette and singer/rapper Eve.

As the cars started to arrive they created a sea of beauty as they formed a line up and down Yorkville’s streets.

One of the more aggressive looking cars was Extreme Skier Jon Olsson’s Lamborghini LP670-4 SV with modified Thule Rack for practical storage in the overhead compartments.

The Lamborghini‘s power is expected to come from a 6.0-liter V12 with approximately 700bhp. This would propel the car from 0-60mph in just a notch over three seconds.
