Born in Tehran, Iran, Bijan migrated to Los Angeles in 1973. His exclusive boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills was established in 1976 and can be visited by “appointment only.” It has been described as “the most expensive store in the world”.

Bijan was also known for his automobiles. Most notable in his car collection was a yellow Bentley Azure with black interior, as well as a Black Bentley Azure with yellow interior. He was also known to have a black Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren with a customized paint scheme, a yellow Ferrari 430 roadster, a yellow Rolls Royce Drophead coupe, and a Bugatti Veyron, all of which he was known to park outside of his Rodeo Drive boutique.

McLaren MP4-12C Debuts in Monterey

The McLaren MP4-12C made its North American debut in Pebble Beach earlier this week.Gooding Auctions unveiled the new supercar at its preview reception, the same locale that has seen the debuts of other significant vehicles from the past few years – namely the Rolls-Royce Hyperion and the Pininfarina P4/5.

The car uses a 600-horsepower (447-kW, 608-PS) twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that delivers up to 599 Nm (442 ft-lb) of torque. Mated to a Seamless Shift seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the car is capable of a 3.8-second 0-100 km/h sprint time, on its way to a top speed of over 300 km/h (186 mph). McLaren Automotive has already announced the list of 35 cities that will be hosting McLaren dealerships.

Come 9/9/9 McLaren Automotive will unveil one of the most anticipated supercars of the year, the MP4-12C.

Previously known by its codename P11, the car will go on sale in 2011 and will be a successor to the McLaren F1 supercar. This car will compete with the likes of the Porsche Turbo, Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Murcielago.

Thanks to its Formula 1 association the car will have state of the art technology. The MP4-12C will have a carbon-fiber body structure, it will also incorporate technology known as a “brake steering” system. It will allow the driver to brake either rear wheels via a selectable second brake pedal resulting in reduced wheelspin and the elimination of understeer.

The power will come from a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V8 petrol engine and accessed through a 7-speed gearbox which will reportedly pump out 600 to 700bhp with a top speed of 200mph+. The state of the art technology in the MP4-12C will incorporate a wi-fi connection, an onboard computer and self-adjusting suspension.

CEO Ron Dennis stated “expect to see a total of three models over the next six years, culminating in annual sales of about 4,000″.

Of the three upcoming cars the MP4-12C is the midsized one, said to have a future price tag of £150,000 (US$246,000). A 911 rival will launch for about £60,000 (US$98,400) and a Lamborghini Murcielago competitor will round out the initial lineup.
