The Koenigsegg Agera R is a machine of rare beauty and power. Since Christian Von Koenigsegg founded the Swedish company in 1994 , with the intention of producing a world-class supercar, we at Privé believe through the years Koenigsegg has continuously improved design and performance make an impressive statement on every new production, the Agera R is the result of many years of dedication and craftsmanship at the highest level of standards for a supercar.

The Agera R uses an in-house developed 5.0-liter V8 with twin turbo’s. It can make 1,115hp at 6,900 rpm and scream all the way up to 7,250 rpm. Torque output is in the range of 885 lb-ft. of torque at 4,100rpm. The specs for the car really start to get exciting when you see how fast it can accelerate and to what end. It makes the sprint from 0-60 in a mind blowing 2.9 seconds. In the time a normal high-performance car has gone through the quarter-mile, the Koenigsegg has gone from 0-124mph in 12.7 seconds.

One of the most surprising aspects of this car is that it is capable of running on multiple fuel types. E85 and E100 Bio-fuels provide the most horsepower for the car, even though the fuel system must deliver more of this gas to the engine than it does for regular petrol. For countries that do not offer the Bio-fuels, the Agera R is able to run on normal 95 octane fuels, but power output is cut by about 100hp and 100 lb-ft of torque.

The chassis and suspension setup on the Agera R are equally as important as any other aspect and the owner of the company personally helped developed this new system. Koenigsegg calls it the Triplex rear suspension; this means that a shock absorber and spring are connected to each rear wheel. Each wheel is capable of having an effect on the other and the extra spring works in series with the normal suspension and dampers that allow the car to be raised or lowered as needed.

Koenigsegg developed a dynamic rear wing. Many supercars use wings that lift automatically at high speeds, but the systems they use to do so are often cumbersome. The wing on the Agera R uses the pressure of the wind created at high speeds to force the wing downward and create wind resistance. The system is not only lighter than conventional hydraulics, but also smarter since it is able to compensate for headwind or tailwinds instantly. The design is thought out so well that even the pylons holding the wing up are useful. They are shaped in a way that helps to extract air from the engine bay towards the rear of the car.

The Competition
The Koenigsegg Agera R only has one car in sight: the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Ever since the Veyron Super Sport set the record for fastest production car on the planet after setting an average top speed of 267 mph, we have been waiting for a car that can rightfully be called the Veyron Super Sport’s “kryptonite”. Well, folks, that car has finally arrived.

The top-of-the-line Bugatti Veyron Super Sport shares the same 8.0-liter, 16-cylinder engine, but with larger turbos and bigger intercoolers to push power to 1,183bhp, a jump of 196bhp. Torque increases from 921lb ft to 1106lb ft. This all means that it can reach a reported 267mph and that is faster than an Agera R.

Considering that you will most likely never go as fast as these cars, let alone with another car next to you to race; it is sort of irrelevant at this speed. When you cross a football field in less than a second your mind is more focused on survival instead of beating the other super rich guy in the car next to you. Nonetheless, the Bugatti seems to have the Agera R beat on paper even in the 0-60mph category which it reaches in 2.5 seconds.

To view our McLaren F1 currently available for sale click here

A selection of cars owned by fashion legend Ralph Lauren will go on display in Paris this week, in a unique exhibition of one of the world’s most distinctive collections.

The collection extends to around 60 cars, kept inside a deliberately non-descript structure that keeps its secrets closely guarded. Inside, thanks to design input from the Polo Ralph Lauren interiors team, the collection is displayed in a truly reverent fashion, part Zen garden, part Rothko Room, with every car placed on a carefully lit pedestal, yet kept maintained and primed for instant use.

Ralph Lauren, who famously described cars as “moving art” in his 2004 book Speed, Style and Beauty, owns an extensive collection of vehicles which is rarely seen by the public – until now.

Seventeen of the most striking models, selected from the 1930s until the present day, will be on display in Paris at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs from April 28 until August 28, offering a unique glimpse at the tastes of a major name in the fashion world.

Among the exhibits will be the Bentley Blower of 1929, immortalised in Ian Fleming’s early James Bond novels, a Mercedes-Benz SSK from 1930 owned by racing driver Count Carlo Felice Trossie and A Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe, one of only four ever made (and only two that remain).

For its first presentation in Europe, the Ralph Lauren collection will be put on display by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who has opted for an intimate visual approach as these vehicles stand out both for their overall design and detail, as well as for bodywork, chassis and engines.

Among the cars on display for the Ralph Lauren Car Collection Exhibition:

Bentley Blower, 1929 – This car was designed by W.O. Bentley, but it was Sir Hilary Birkin, one of the “Bentley Boys” (a group of British gentlemen, all of them drivers and lovers of fast cars) which led Bentley to equip it with a compressor, hence its nickname “Blower.” With massive bodywork embellished with the English flag, the Bentley Blower was created for a single purpose: to win races. This is the car Ian Fleming chose for James Bond 007 in his first novels.

Mercedes-Benz SSK Count Trossi, 1930 – With its shark profile, the design of this Mercedes-Benz can be attributed to the talent of its owner, Italian aristocrat Count Carlo Felice Trossi, also a racing driver. The SSK is the archetype of the Mercedes of the 1920s, dominated by its colossal bonnet encompassing more than half of its length, with the radiator projecting out front as a windbreaker and exhaust pipes stemming from the sides.

Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe, 1938 – This is one of only four models ever built, and today only two are left. This fantastic car has visible seams and round-headed rivets running the length of its spine and mudguards. Power and speed are suggested by its doors cut out of the roof and ellipsoidal windows taken from the aeronautics register.

Ferrari 375 Plus, 1954 – Like all the Ferraris of the time, there were no specific plans for this design. Highly qualified and talented craftsmen created this magnificently rounded shape following the verbal instructions of Ferrari’s official car designer, Pinin Farina. Thus they were able to produce a magnificent spyder which won Le Mans 24 Hours in 1954.

Jaguar XKD, 1955 – No car from the ’50s embodies speed better than the XKD Jaguar, with three consecutive victories between 1955 and 1957 at Le Mans 24 Hours, and another at Nürburgring in 1956. It’s this car that enabled the driver Patricia Coundley to become the fastest woman in Europe in 1964. From the aileron at its tip to the elegantly rounded bonnet, its shape harks back to that of a fighter plane.

Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe, 1955 – The Gullwing owes its name to the doors which open upward, like wings. It was the darling of many celebrities including Sophia Loren, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Glen Ford and musician Skitch Henderson.

Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, 1958 – This car bears the mark of Sergio Scaglietti, one of Ferrari’s most talented coachbuilders. The Testa Rossa (red head), which takes its name from the red camshaft covers of its V12 engine, bears Scaglietti’s characteristic signature – a long chassis with a torpedo-like body, a headrest emerging from the bodywork and streamlined headlamps.

“Strangely enough, I really don’t like to drive the cars when people are around,” Lauren says. “As it turns out, I don’t really want to be seen in the cars. There’s a part of me that likes the privacy, so the more garish the car, the less I want to drive it. On weekends, depending on the weather, I love the Jaguars, the XK120 or XK140. I love the Mercedes Gullwing and roadster and the Porsches.”

Below is an exclusive look behind the doors at Ralph Lauren’s luxurious private estate where the designer takes us on a personal tour of his spectacular machines.

Our private jet consultants have been advisors for more than 20 years and have seen the fractional jet industry go through plenty of ups and downs. Early on, fractional flying flourished as NetJets, the result of the creative genius of Rick Santulli and the capital of Warren Buffett, came to the fore, followed by new entrants developed by strong aviation companies like Bombardier, Cessna and Raytheon.

In the early part of this decade, the triple whammy of the 9/11 tragedy, the bursting of the Internet bubble and the stock market plunge threw the industry for a loop. As the stock market recovered and the commercial air travel experience continued to deteriorate, fractional flying again began to flourish, however since then new private flying program models like fractional jet cards, block charter programs and the like, have become more popular over the years. These new private flying programs give customers much more flexibility without tying up large sums of money into a fractional jet program. Prive International was following this trend during the early stages and has since then implemented these strategies into our private jet chartering program.

In the past two years, however, the recession has hit the fractional jet industry hard. Fractional companies have seen many share redemptions and few share sales. The decline in the pre-owned jet market has hit fractional owners particularly hard, revealing the Achilles heel of the fractional flying model–the purchase price owners receive for their shares at the end of their contracts.

While recent headlines suggest that private aviation as a whole is rebounding, the future of the fractional industry is uncertain. Every fractional owner and potential fractional owner has the same basic question: Does it make sense for me to invest/stay invested in fractional or should I consider other private air travel options like charter or jet cards? While the fractional industry has both floundered and flourished in recent years, the answer to this question always is the same–it depends on your individual circumstances including your investment time horizon, your travel profile and budget, etc.

Prive International’s private jet charter program is a much wiser solution than fractional ownership. Our members prefer this approach and we are seeing an increase in new members joining who in the past were tied up in a fractional ownership program.

When considering private jet transportation, your goal should be to purchase maximum flight time on aircraft that best fit your needs from reliable and financially stable companies at a minimum cost. Making the wrong choice can cost you hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars. Making the right choice can free you from the horrible service offered by the airlines in a way that does nothing less than change your life for the better.

By Privé’s standards the Porsche 918 Spyder is a true masterpiece from the beautifully sculpted design to its new drive technology hybrid engine. When it does come available (and it will), this state of the art vehicle will be top on our list of acquisitions for our exotic car rental division.

The 918′s engine like its design is a work of pure genius. A 3.4-liter V8 petrol burner is combined with electric motors to put out 500bhp, while featuring the mind-altering acceleration to go from a standing start to 62mph in just 3.2 seconds. Topping out at of 320 km/h (198 mph), and a lap time on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring in less than 7:30 minutes, faster than even the Porsche Carrera GT, while on the other hand offering a very respectable 78mpg fuel economy. The energy reservoir is a fluid-cooled lithium-ion battery positioned behind the passenger cell. The big advantage of a plug-in hybrid is that the battery can be charged on the regular electrical network. A further point is that the car’s kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy fed into the battery when applying the brakes, thus providing additional energy for fast and dynamic acceleration. A button on the steering wheel allows the driver to choose among four different running modes: The E-Drive mode is for running the car under electric power alone, with a range of up to 25 km or 16 miles. In the Hybrid mode the 918 Spyder uses both the electric motors and the combustion engine as a function of driving conditions and requirements, offering a range from particularly fuel-efficient all the way to extra-powerful. The 918 Spyder is one of three Porsche models with hybrid drive that made their world debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show this week. This trio – made up of Porsche’s new Cayenne S Hybrid SUV with parallel full-hybrid drive, the 911 GT3 R Hybrid racing car with electric drive on the front axle and a flywheel mass battery, and the two-seater high-performance 918 Spyder mid-engined sports car with plug-in hybrid – clearly demonstrates not only the great bandwidth of this new drive technology, but also the innovative power of Porsche as a genuine pioneer in hybrid drive.

Enjoy the film!
