The Koenigsegg Agera R is a machine of rare beauty and power. Since Christian Von Koenigsegg founded the Swedish company in 1994 , with the intention of producing a world-class supercar, we at Privé believe through the years Koenigsegg has continuously improved design and performance make an impressive statement on every new production, the Agera R is the result of many years of dedication and craftsmanship at the highest level of standards for a supercar.

The Agera R uses an in-house developed 5.0-liter V8 with twin turbo’s. It can make 1,115hp at 6,900 rpm and scream all the way up to 7,250 rpm. Torque output is in the range of 885 lb-ft. of torque at 4,100rpm. The specs for the car really start to get exciting when you see how fast it can accelerate and to what end. It makes the sprint from 0-60 in a mind blowing 2.9 seconds. In the time a normal high-performance car has gone through the quarter-mile, the Koenigsegg has gone from 0-124mph in 12.7 seconds.

One of the most surprising aspects of this car is that it is capable of running on multiple fuel types. E85 and E100 Bio-fuels provide the most horsepower for the car, even though the fuel system must deliver more of this gas to the engine than it does for regular petrol. For countries that do not offer the Bio-fuels, the Agera R is able to run on normal 95 octane fuels, but power output is cut by about 100hp and 100 lb-ft of torque.

The chassis and suspension setup on the Agera R are equally as important as any other aspect and the owner of the company personally helped developed this new system. Koenigsegg calls it the Triplex rear suspension; this means that a shock absorber and spring are connected to each rear wheel. Each wheel is capable of having an effect on the other and the extra spring works in series with the normal suspension and dampers that allow the car to be raised or lowered as needed.

Koenigsegg developed a dynamic rear wing. Many supercars use wings that lift automatically at high speeds, but the systems they use to do so are often cumbersome. The wing on the Agera R uses the pressure of the wind created at high speeds to force the wing downward and create wind resistance. The system is not only lighter than conventional hydraulics, but also smarter since it is able to compensate for headwind or tailwinds instantly. The design is thought out so well that even the pylons holding the wing up are useful. They are shaped in a way that helps to extract air from the engine bay towards the rear of the car.

The Competition
The Koenigsegg Agera R only has one car in sight: the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Ever since the Veyron Super Sport set the record for fastest production car on the planet after setting an average top speed of 267 mph, we have been waiting for a car that can rightfully be called the Veyron Super Sport’s “kryptonite”. Well, folks, that car has finally arrived.

The top-of-the-line Bugatti Veyron Super Sport shares the same 8.0-liter, 16-cylinder engine, but with larger turbos and bigger intercoolers to push power to 1,183bhp, a jump of 196bhp. Torque increases from 921lb ft to 1106lb ft. This all means that it can reach a reported 267mph and that is faster than an Agera R.

Considering that you will most likely never go as fast as these cars, let alone with another car next to you to race; it is sort of irrelevant at this speed. When you cross a football field in less than a second your mind is more focused on survival instead of beating the other super rich guy in the car next to you. Nonetheless, the Bugatti seems to have the Agera R beat on paper even in the 0-60mph category which it reaches in 2.5 seconds.

Russian SuperCar “Marussia”

The Marussia is Russia’s answer to the supercar, creators of the project Nikolay Fomenko and Yefim Ostrovsky believe that innovation and reliability are the key factors of the production under the Marussia trademark.

The uniqueness of the concept is that there are several completely different designs and colors of the vehicle’s body that can be fitted onto the sole chassis. Together with the outside appearance, the interior design may be changed as well to match color and shape of the body. Finally, in spite of all changes the character and driving facilities of the car will remain unchanged. So, off-the-shelf product becomes very exclusive vehicles for each individual owner. In order to come up with the unique designs a competition was held amongst young Russian designers challenging them to create the best possible look for the car. The Marussia is full of high tech gadgets and multimedia options to keep up with the ever rapid changing world we live in. One will find various technologies such as audio, video, Bluetooth, 4G Yota Internet access and VoIP which are provided for both the driver and passenger.

The V6 engine is equipped with a 3.5 liter engine which produces 300bhp, max torque is 330/3600. A racing version of the car, is in the development process, the company states it will be engineered with respect to the contemporary auto racing technologies of today. The total weight of the vehicle is 1100kg, and they claim it will do 0-60 in 5 secs and has a top speed of 250Km/h.

Swiss SuperCar “Weber Faster One” 248mph!

Privé International is always on the lookout when it comes to the latest yacht, private jet or in this case supercar. Here is the next vehicle that claims to be the world’s fastest street-legal sports car – the Weber Sportcars Faster One.

Reportedly, the car can go from 0 – 62 mph in 2.7 seconds, 0 – 124 mph in just 6.6 seconds, and has a top speed said to be over 248 mph! Which would beat out the Bugatti Veyron. The twin-blown eight is mated to an in-house-developed 6-speed sequential gearbox. Power is directed to an intelligent AWD system (also developed in-house) that can send a maximum of 36% of power to the front wheels.

For around $1.5 million, you get a 900-horsepower / 774 lb-ft twin-supercharged V8 engine and a set of 12-piston, 15-inch ceramic brakes.

“Favorable aerodynamic properties are absolutely elementary in order to attain a top speed of more than 400 km/h. The car body of the WEBER SPORTCARS (Faster One) is 204 centimeters wide and 115 centimeters high. It is made entirely from ultra-light yet super-strong carbon fiber. French auto maker Citroën has truly outdone themselves this time. Six of these futuristic masterpieces will be produced at a price of £1.1 million pounds or approximately $1.8 million U.S. dollars. Powered by either a “Ford or GM V8″.

GT by Citroën, is a joint venture between Citroën and the makers of Gran Turismo, at almost five meters long, GT by Citroën packs the latest hi-tech racing equipment into an exaggerated sporty frame. Planted on 21-inch, diamond-effect, aluminium wheels, the car’s gullwing doors, over-sized rear end with mobile spoiler, gaping air intakes and flat underside exude the qualities of an accomplished racer.
With chrome chevrons on the smooth, aerodynamic, front end asserting the car’s Citroën identity, the sleekly muscled racer sports a large wraparound windscreen adding to the impact of the car’s size and dynamic appearance. Penetrating blue LED headlamps and slim-line carbon fibre rear view mirrors – which appear to be suspended in mid-air – add to GT by Citroën’s futuristic racing style.

Premium materials used throughout GT by Citroën’s hi-tech interior reflect the car’s distinguished and refined personality. In contrast to its light body work, the cabin features a darker, colour scheme with black leather racing seats outfitted with a four point harnesses. The dark leather, along with copper and steel touches inside the cabin and a low-slung driving position, create an opulent and powerful racing environment. A red LED heads up display,shows all on board data allowing drivers to maintain focus on the track.

9/9/2009 McLaren MP4-12C Reveal

Come 9/9/9 McLaren Automotive will unveil one of the most anticipated supercars of the year, the MP4-12C.

Previously known by its codename P11, the car will go on sale in 2011 and will be a successor to the McLaren F1 supercar. This car will compete with the likes of the Porsche Turbo, Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Murcielago.

Thanks to its Formula 1 association the car will have state of the art technology. The MP4-12C will have a carbon-fiber body structure, it will also incorporate technology known as a “brake steering” system. It will allow the driver to brake either rear wheels via a selectable second brake pedal resulting in reduced wheelspin and the elimination of understeer.

The power will come from a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V8 petrol engine and accessed through a 7-speed gearbox which will reportedly pump out 600 to 700bhp with a top speed of 200mph+. The state of the art technology in the MP4-12C will incorporate a wi-fi connection, an onboard computer and self-adjusting suspension.

CEO Ron Dennis stated “expect to see a total of three models over the next six years, culminating in annual sales of about 4,000″.

Of the three upcoming cars the MP4-12C is the midsized one, said to have a future price tag of £150,000 (US$246,000). A 911 rival will launch for about £60,000 (US$98,400) and a Lamborghini Murcielago competitor will round out the initial lineup.
